USI Unique Student Identifier | Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar

A USI is an identifier made up of ten numbers and letters. Easy to create, each USI is unique to the individual and stays with them for life. Your USI also creates a Government authenticated record of your vocational education and training (VET) achievements in the form of a VET transcript which is free to access and share with employers (if you are applying for a job), training organisations (for credit transfers) and licensing bodies (to prove your skills when renewing your licence).

You need a USI if you are:

  • a student studying nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)
  • seeking a VET student loan
  • a higher education student seeking a HELP loan or Commonwealth Supported Place
  • a higher education student graduating.
